Mary Lou Law


SHERBURNE – Mary Lou Law, 75, a life long resident of the Sherburne area passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at her home in Sherburne-4-Corners.
Born in Sherburne in June of 1935 Mary Lou was the daughter of Jay and Maida Clark Coleman. She grew up in the Sherburne area and always had mentioned to her family that she enjoyed a very happy childhood. She was a 1953 graduate of the Sherburne High School and on June 8, 1957 in the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany of Sherburne she married Wayne E. Law who passed away April 15, 1984.
Mary Lou has made her home on the family farm since her marriage and over the years was involved in all aspects of the farm’s operation. A very gifted and talented writer she found great contentment, joy and solitude in writing countless journal’s, poems and thought’s of her life. She was also a member of a local writers group. Mary Lou also enjoyed many trips to the Oneida area to enjoy one of her favorite pastimes.
Above all else Mary Lou enjoyed times spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
May Lou is survived by her children, JoAnn Krug and her husband Ken of Rome, Tammy Streichert and her husband Neal of LaFayette and Kip Law and his wife Stacey of Sherburne-4-Corners, her grandchildren Natalie and Brandon Schmitt, Jacob Streichert, Joshua Streichert and his wife Dawn, Katelyn Streichert and Sierra, Wayne and Emma Law. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Besides her husband Wayne, Mary Lou was predeceased by her brothers John, Roger and Don Coleman.
Funeral services for Mary Lou will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Sherburne. The Rev. Bruce MacDuffie, rector, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Norwich.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
