NELSON – Lynn J. Keator, 77, of Nelson, died Sunday, April 24, 2011 at his home.
Born in Norwich, he was the son of the late Lynn A. and Alice Keator. He was predeceased by his daughter Monica in 1995.
He was a graduate of Sherburne Schools and also attended the SUNY Morrisville. He was very active in sports in his high school years. In later life his love was golf. He was a former member and president of the Cazenovia Golf Club, also a former member of Barker Brook Golf Club.
He worked for Dairylea for 19 years in Sherburne, as a milk plant manager in Edmeston, and later was milk plant manager in Cazenovia. For over 23 years he served as the Codes Enforcement Officer for the Towns of Nelson, Cazenovia, Fenner, DeRuyter, Hamilton, Eaton and several more. He was a former member of the Nelson Board and for many years was active in the Democratic Party in the Town of Nelson and Madison County Democratic Committee.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shelley (Faulkner) Keator; His cousins, Marion Brock, Harriet Mosher and Arlene Sullivan of Port Orange, Fla. and Lake Huntington. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. Funeral and committal services will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Norwich and conducted by Rev. Betty Burlew of the Nelson Methodist Church.
