SOUTH NEW BERLIN – Isabelle Stone, 83, a long-time resident of South New Berlin, passed away Tuesday evening, April 19, 2011, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital RCHF, where she has made her home for the past 2 1/2 years.
Isabelle was born in October of 1927 in Greene. On June 2, 1945 in Norwich, she married Harold Stone, who passed away May 20, 2000. A resident of South New Berlin for over 45 years, Isabelle and her husband owned their own farm which she helped operate. A hard worker all of her life she also helped the family operate Harold Stone and Son Refuse Removal.
Isabelle was also a long time member of the Holmesville Baptist Church and was responsible for transporting many children to Sunday School at the church. She also helped in the kitchen during Bible School.
Isabelle is survived by her niece and nephews; Peggy Gordon, Clifford Gordon, Rex Gordon, Carl Wiers, William Gordon and John Gordon. Besides her husband Harold, Isabelle was predeceased by her children Bertha Kelly and Stanley Stone, her sisters Anna and Charlotte and her brother Melvin Warren.
A funeral service for Isabelle will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Romeyn Kipp, pastor of the Holmesville Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery of South New Berlin.
There will be no calling hours.
