Olga Gallagher


NORWICH – Olga Gallagher, 91, formerly of North Broad Street, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the home of her granddaughter in Scotia.
Born June 27, 1919 in Cleveland, Ohio, Olga was the daughter of Onoofree and Althea (Dmitruk) Greenchuk. She was raised in Owego and later met her husband, James B. Gallagher, while she was working at Scintilla in Sidney. Married in 1940, Jim died on March 19, 2009.  Together, her family lived in Syracuse and Oxford, moving to Norwich in 1960. She was a nurse’s aide at the New York State Veterans’ Home in Oxford.
Olga is survived by her son, James Gallagher of Norwich and her daughter, Rita Flyzik, of Orange, Va.; three grandchildren, Philip and Mathew Giltner and Amy Ouderkirk; a great granddaughter, Hannah Giltner and two sisters, Tatania ‘Tiny’ Greenchuk of Owego and Sonia Altschul of Texas. She was predeceased by a daughter, Jacqueline Gallagher.
A graveside service for Olga will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 2 in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Oxford.  There will be no calling hours. 
The arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Funeral Home.
