Brian Burdick Sr.


NORWICH – Brian K. Burdick Sr., 54, of Neal Road, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City.
Born Oct. 3, 1956 in Norwich, Brian was the son of Robert C. and Bessie (Kenyon) Burdick. He graduated from Norwich High School and then drove truck for Gallery Associates in Hamilton. After working for the Norwich Schools for a short time, he joined Simmonds Precision in 1979 and remained with them, now Unison, until his illness.
Brian loved classic cars and taking his 1972 Nova Supersport to cruise-ins. He was also an accomplished woodworker, making toys, furniture and knick-knacks for his family and many friends.
On Aug. 28, 1976, in Hamilton, Brian married Donna Wafer who survives. In addition to his wife, of Norwich, Brian is survived by his mother, Bessie Burdick, of Norwich; his three sons and their wives, Brian K. and Maryella Burdick Jr. and Robert D. Burdick, of Norwich as well as Justin and Elizabeth Burdick of Fairbanks, Alaska; ten grandchildren, Kimberly, Morgan, Matthew, Mariah, Jordan, Emma, Makayla, Dallis, Kaitlyn and Kamden; brothers and sisters, Leroy (Laurie) Burdick of Oxford, Priscilla (Pat) Hall of Bainbridge, Donald Burdick of Norwich, Bruce (Joan) Burdick of Hamilton, Steven (Linda) Burdick of Oxford and Patti (Tim) Davis of Smyrna. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
 A memorial service for Brian will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 18 at the Wilson Funeral Home. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
