Dorothy Wells


SHERBURNE – Dorothy Geneva Wells, age 81, went to be with her Lord on April 2, 2011 in Pikeville, Tenn.
She was born Dorothy Geneva Pollock on Jan. 28, 1920 in Sherburne, to Francis Pollock and Mildred Wilcox Pollock, the eldest of six children. She grew up in the Sherburne and Smyrna area and lived there most of her life. In August of 1994, she moved to Pikeville, Tenn., with her daughter and son-in-law, where she spent the remainder of her years.
She spent most of her adult life as a homemaker and enjoyed spending her time with family and friends. She loved cooking, country music, singing on the karaoke, and entertaining her grandchildren in her home. She enjoyed going to the Pikeville Senior Citizen’s Center, where she made several friends, and had fun playing various card games in the tournaments.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Howard Foster, second husband Clesson Wells, both of Smyrna, brother Henry Pollock of Pekin, Illinois, brother Harvey Pollock and sister Ruth Pollock, both of Norwich.
She is survived by one sister, Betty Barker, of Sherburne, one brother, George Pollock, of Springfield, Missouri, her daughter, Patricia Law, son-in-law Lauren Law, grandson Chad Cosens, great granddaughter Dana Holloway (Travis), great granddaughter Renee Cosens, and great-great grandson Raylan Holloway, all of Pikeville. She is also survived by grandson Bruce Cosens, great grandson Matthew Cosens, and great granddaughter Emma Cosens, all of Sherburne. She had several nieces and nephews in New York, Missouri, Illinois, Vermont, and Pennsylvania.
Her wish was to be cremated and there will be a gathering at the Pikeville Funeral Home in Pikeville on Thursday, April 7 at 1 p.m. A memorial service officiated by Bro. Mike Stanifer will directly follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
There will be a graveside service at Sheds Cemetery in Sheds, NY to be determined on a later date.
