Ruth Tiffany


NORWICH – Ruth M. Tiffany, 93, long-time Norwich resident, passed away Friday morning, April 1, 2011, at her home.
One of the three daughters of Fred and Bertha Webb Wilcox, Ruth was born in Smithville in October of 1917. She attended elementary school in Tyner, and married at a young age. Ruth worked at the Norwich Knitting Mill for a time and later was employed by the Chenango Valley Home, but mainly preferred living quietly and being a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling, and liked sewing and doing crafts.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Joanne Case Snow and husband Donald of Norwich and Carol Case Diamond and husband Robert of Baldwinsville; and by her grandchildren and their spouses: Terri and Richard Holly of Endicott, Brenda and Terry Redd of Norwich, Christopher Snow of Oxford, Craig and Marie Anne Diamond of Granada Hills, Calif., and Deborah and David Lewis of Phoenix, NY. Several great grandchildren and one great great grandchild also survive. On Oct. 9, 1943, in Oxford, Ruth married Herbert Tiffany, who predeceased her on Feb. 13, 1974. She was also predeceased by her companion of many years, Stanley Gibson, and by her sisters, Edith Scarcella and Alma Stafford.
Funeral services for Ruth will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeff Hale, pastor of the Broad Street United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1-2 p.m.
