Gwendolyn Boulant


NORWICH – Gwendolyn ‘Wendy’ Boulant, 71, of Bartlett Road, passed away with her children at her side on Friday, March 25, 2011.
Born March 21, 1940 in Norwich, Wendy was the daughter of Benjamin J. and Kathryne (Bolger) Williams. She was a 1958 graduate of Norwich High School and was a clerk for Norwich Pharmaceuticals, the Department of Social Services, Price Chopper and the Norwich schools where she was also the attendance secretary. The love of her life was her family, however, and raising them was her favorite job. She was a member of St. Paul’s Church.
In 1959, Wendy first married Emerton J. Whitney, who died in 1988. In 1965, she married Paul P. Boulant, who died in September of 1989. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Robert and Bernadette Whitney of Manassas, Va., Timothy and Melanie Whitney of Folsom, Calif., Kathryne and William Lavoie and Kimberly and Thomas Harvey, all of Norwich and Paula and Brian Swartout of Citrus Heights, Calif.; two step-children, Alan Boulant and his wife, Robin, of Scotia, and Shawn Boulant and his wife, Kim, of West Sand Lake; twelve grandchildren, Gregory Benedicto, Justin Whitney, Scott Lavoie, Matthew Lavoie, Ashely Whitney Aaron Haynes, Zane Whitney, Whitney Lavoie, Ian Whitney, Hannah Swartout, Julia Swartout, Abbigail Swartout two step-grandchildren Christopher and Samantha Boulant; one great grandchild, Christopher Benedicto, a sister, Elaine Kelley and her husband, Warren, of Wendall, N.C. A very close friend, Pat St. Denny, as well as several nieces and nephews also survive. Wendy was predeceased by two sisters, June Trinder and Mary Ellen Williams as well as a nephew, Thomas Simmons.
A prayer service for Wendy will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at the Wilson Funeral Home. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday from 5 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be made to either St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Hospice of Chenango County, 21 Hayes Street, Norwich, NY 13815.
