ARCHBOLD, Ohio – Roland E. Jones, age 72, of Archbold, Ohio, passed away Thursday morning, March 24, 2011 at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice. He had been battling several illnesses with his devoted wife, Karen Fisher Jones, by his side.
Roland was born in Syracuse on June 29, 1938, the son of the late Roland R. and the late Margaret (Lazenby) Jones. On June 11, 1983 he married Karen Fisher, and she survives. He graduated from Sherburne-Earlville High School in 1956. Roland was a farmer, gas station owner, and most recently, a long distance truck driver. As a truck driver he especially enjoyed his trips to Ohio and the southern states. Roland moved to Archbold, Ohio in 1977. He enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved antique cars, fishing, and old western movies.
Surviving, besides his wife, Karen, are his four children; Cynthia Easler of Oxford, Kenneth Jones of Bridgeport, Lauralee Jones of Gloversville and Candace Kulha of Greenburg; two sisters, Doreen Tiernan of Mechanicville, and Carolyn Spearman of Glenside, Pa.; and three grandchildren.
There will be no funeral services. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor may be made of Hospice of Williams and Fulton Counties.
