Lynn Basher


HAMILTON – Lynn L. Basher, 63, of Eaton St., passed away Thursday, March, 17, 2011 at the Community Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility, Hamilton.
She was born Aug. 17, 1947 in Rochester, a daughter of Edward and Vena VanHyning DeBisschop, and was a graduate of Greece Olympia High School. On April 14, 1967, Lynn married John Basher in Hamilton. A Hamilton resident most of her life, Lynn had worked at Colgate University in the Bookstore, the mailroom and the Buildings and Grounds Department, retiring in 2008 after more than 30 years of service. Previously, she had been employed at Kodak in Rochester, the Earlville Paper Box Company, and Vantine Studios in Hamilton. She enjoyed playing bingo and traveling, especially to Hawaii and Disney World. She was also fond of lighthouses. Her greatest joy was her family to whom she was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Lynn was a member of the Park United Methodist Church and the Chenango Water Exercise Group in Hamilton.
Surviving are her husband of 43 years, John; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammie and Allen Emrich of New Berlin; a son and daughter-in-law, William and Kristen Basher of Hamilton; four grandchildren, Dylan and Drew Emrich, Emma and Taylor Basher; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Susan and Gary Niedermeier of Dunedin, Fla.; Pamela DeBisschop of New York City; and Tracie DeBisschop of Hamilton. A brother, Edward J. DeBisschop predeceased her.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton, followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Hamilton.
Friends were invited to call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday.
