Stella Anthony


GUILFORD – Stella R. Anthony, 87, a Guilford resident for most of her life, passed away Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, in the James Square Health and Rehabilitation Center of Syracuse.
Born in Ellenburg on April 27, 1923, Stella was the daughter of Edward Carter and Hazel Dominic. While growing up in the Guilford area, she attended local schools. For over 30 years, Stella was employed as an inspector by Scintilla of Sidney and its successors. Stella was a very social, caring person who enjoyed playing cards, cooking, and being with family.
Stella is survived by her children and their spouses: Duane and Sally Anthony Jr., Gary and Shuqing Anthony, all of Clermont, Fla.; and Sherry and Robert G. Wester Jr., of Cazenovia; and her grandchildren: Susan Jagel, Connie Taylor, Katelyn and Courtney Anthony, and Beth Ratsep, along with six great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters: Doris Camp of Owego, Mary Ellen Parsons of Guilford, and her brother, Marv Carter of Binghamton.
On Aug. 31, 1941, in Guilford, Stella married Duane E. Anthony Sr., who predeceased her on Feb. 5, 1979. Also predeceasing Stella was her grandson, Robert J. Wester, and her sisters: Edna, Marie, Madora, and Barbara.
Funeral services for Stella will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home in Norwich. Interment will be at a later date in the Sunset Cemetery of Guilford. Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Memorial contributions to the Methodist Church of Cazenovia, Lincklaen St., Cazenovia, NY 13035, will be appreciated by Stella’s family.
