Lloyd Pearsall


NORWICH – Lloyd William Pearsall, 95, formerly of Norwich and Guilford, passed away Thursday evening, Nov. 16, 2006 in the New York State Veterans’ Home of Oxford.
The son of William and Maude (Albright) Pearsall, Lloyd was born in the Town of Guilford on May 22, 1911. He attended school in White Store, and was married to Dorothy Christman in Wilkes Barre, Pa., on July 25, 1939. Lloyd was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country from March of 1943 through his honorable discharge in March of 1946. Throughout his working years, he had been a self-employed trucker for 12 years, worked as a Pinkerton security guard, and was part of the Green Thumb. He worked as a bus driver for the South New Berlin schools, and had been both a mail carrier in South New Berlin and a constable for the Town of New Berlin. Lloyd was a member of the South New Berlin Fire Dept, where he had served as Chief from 1955 through 1958 and again in 1966, and at one time was Fire Police Captain; was a past member of the Chenango County Fire Police Association and the NYS Fire Police Association; and later belonged to the Guilford Fire Dept. where he was active with their fire police.
Lloyd is survived by his brother, Maurice Pearsall of Orlando, Fla.; and by several cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy, on June 28, 1993, and by his sister, Edith Sweet.
Graveside funeral services with full military rites will be held for Lloyd at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 27, from the Evergreen Cemetery at White Store. The Rev. Romeyn Kipp, Pastor of the Holmesville Baptist Church, will officiate. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are by the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
