Amy Wheaton

GUILFORD – Amy Elizabeth Wheaton, 75, of Guilford, passed away Sunday evening, Nov. 19, 2006 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
The daughter of Elsworth and Edith (Stamford) Easton, Amy was born in Olean on April 3, 1931. She attended the local schools while growing up in Addison, and married at an early age. She lived on a small farm near Doraville for over 20 years, and for 12 years she resided in Oklahoma, where she worked as a nurse’s aide in a nursing home. In 1983, Amy moved back to Chenango County, making her home on her son’s farm in Guilford. Considered by her family to be a terrific mom, Amy would always put her children’s needs before her own and they never wanted for warm clothes and shoes and a comfortable home. She was a great cook who made sure there was enough food to go around. Amy had a heart of gold and an easy-going manner that put people at ease. She had been a member of the Church of Christ of South New Berlin.
Amy is survived by her children: Philip Wheaton and wife Kathleen of Allentown, Pa.; Connie Blackman and husband David of Bainbridge, William Wheaton of Guilford, and Pamela dark and husband Terry of Port Craine; by 14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Leona Kady of Troupsburg; her former husband, Philip Wheaton of Addison, and nieces, nephews, and cousins. Amy was predeceased by her sisters, Lillian, Donna, and June, and by her brothers, Earl, Gerald, Robert, and Jack Easton.
Funeral services for Amy will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery of Oxford.
Those wishing to pay their respects may call at the R. J. Fahy Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m.
