Joanna Mcdonald


CINCINNATUS – Joanna R. McDonald, 82, of Cincinnatus, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at the Cortland Regional Medical Center, while surrounded by her family.
Mrs. McDonald was born in Smithville on Oct. 12, 1928, a daughter of the late Monroe and Jessie Paddleford Torrey. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cincinnatus. Until 2001, she was the owner of J&B Welding, Cincinnatus.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bruce McDonald, at home; her children, John (Pat) Rice, Jim (Lorelei) Rice, Jay (Julie) Rice, Joel (Pam Ross) Rice, all of Cincinnatus, Jerry (Nicole) Rice of DeRuyter, Jeff (Judy Cass) Rice of Cincinnatus, Emma (Mic) Scott of N. Norwich, Wayne (Melanie) McDonald of Plymouth, Blanche (John) Sewell of Delanson, Bernice (Vinny) Zolla of Truxton, David (Kathy) McDonald of McGraw, Hugh (Terry) McDonald of German, and Kay Ann Tracey of Cincinnatus. She also leaves behind a daughter-in-law, Amanda McDonald of Mertztown, Pa.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Donald Rice, in 1971; a daughter, Janette Rice in 1960; a son, Keith McDonald in 1990; brothers, Norman and Leslie Torrey, and a sister, Alice Furnare.
Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Cincinnatus on Thursday at 11 a.m. with her pastor, Reverend David Perrott officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Rural Cemetery.  
The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
