Margaret Emerson


NORWICH – Margaret Emerson, 94, of Midland Drive, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011 at Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born June 19, 1916 in Norwich, Margaret was the daughter of Santo and Antonia (Alessi) Fama. Following her schooling in Norwich, she worked as a seamstress at the former Norwich Knitting Mill and Champion Products and then at the Family Bargain Center.
Margaret enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking for her family. 
She was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Church and of the Rosary Society.
Margaret was the loving wife of the late Edward Emerson, who died in 2007 and previously, Joseph Cusumano. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, Dr. Parker and Mary Ward and family, John and Nicolina Mendolia and family, Kathleen and Craig Livingston and family, Antoinette and Michael Perkins and family, Sandy and Linda Fama and family, Theresa and Donald Jensen and family and Joseph and Nancy Fama and family as well as Gerry Cusumano. She was predeceased by a son, Joseph Cusumano, two sisters, Nicolina Mendolia and Mary Schepis and a brother, Joseph Fama.
 A Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Bartholomew’s Church. Members of the St. Bartholomew’s Rosary Society will recite the rosary before the service at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place in the spring in St. Paul’s Cemetery.  There will be a gathering of friends following Mass at the Parish Center.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Margaret may be made to the Memorial Fund of St. Bartholomew’s Church.
