Alice Furnare


OXFORD – Alice V. Furnare, 80, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Oxford, passed away on Monday, Dec. 6, 2010 at Riverfront Nursing and Rehab Center, Bradenton.
She was born on April 3, 1930 in Greene, a daughter of the late Monroe and Jessie (Paddleford) Torrey. She was married to John Furnare, who passed away on June 7, 1992.
She is survived by her children, Daniel Furnare and his wife Brenda of Bradenton, Fla., Chris Furnare and his wife, Kelli of Canandaigua, and Karen Rice of Norwich; her grandchildren, Brian Furnare, Valarie Browning, Kristin Furnare, Amy Rae Furnare, Andrew Furnare, Stacey Lynn Parker and Michael Furnare; her great grandchildren, Deacon Parker, McKenzy Parker, Autumn Parker Nathan Browning, and Natalie Browning; and her sister, Joanne McDonald and her husband Bruce of Cincinnatus. She was predeceased by her brothers, Norman Torrey and Leslie Torrey.
Always a loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed bowling and time with her friends. She was a member for many years of the Oxford Fire Department Auxiliary and the Fort Hill Post, American Legion Auxiliary. She retired after many years as a cashier at the Victory Market Store and the Great American Store in Oxford.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 13 from St. Joseph’s Church, Oxford with the Rev. Thomas I. Ward celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Oxford.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford, on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m.
