NORWICH – Katharine S. DeRensis, 67, of Manley Road, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010 at her home.
Born in Wellsville, Ohio on Feb. 18, 1943, Kathy was the daughter of David and Katharine (Freeman) Stanton. She graduated from Port Clinton High School in Ohio before receiving her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan. Upon completion of her studies, Kathy taught music education in Fulton, and Ferguson-Florissant, Missouri before moving to Norwich.
On Aug. 16, 1969, in St. Bartholomew’s Church, Kathy married Nicholas A. DeRensis who survives. While living in Norwich, Kathy was the office manager at her husband’s dental practice on North Broad Street. She developed a love for flying and was a flight instructor at Galaxy Aviation in Rome, NY.
In addition to her husband, Nick, of Norwich, Kathy is survived by a son, Peter DeRensis and his wife, Rosalind and grandsons, Anthony and Nicholas, all of Norwich; a sister, Nancy Johnson (Alan Minard) of Marion, Mass. and a brother, David Stanton (Marilyn) of Niles, Ohio. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Kathy will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at the Wilson Funeral Home. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from noon until the time of the service. Burial will take place in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
