Mildred Palmer


NORWICH – Mildred F. Palmer, 96, of Golden Age Apartments, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010 at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City.
Born May 22, 1914 in Norwich, Mildred was the daughter of John J. and Maude (Ogden) Natoli. She was a graduate of Norwich High School with the Class of 1932. On Feb. 17, 1934, in Greene, Mildred married Paul P. Palmer who died on February 18, 2007. After raising her family, Mildred worked at both W. T. Grant and the S & H Green Stamp stores in Norwich.
A dedicated volunteer, for almost thirty years Mildred gave her time to Chenango Memorial Hospital in the gift shop and at the front desk. As a long time member of the Broad Street United Methodist Church, Mildred was the chairperson for many of their rummage sales. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW where she made sandwiches for their Tuesday night Bingo games.
Mildred was an Angel of Mercy to her family. She was the primary caregiver to her parents, her husband and other family members in their times of need.
“Millie” loved dancing and socializing with friends. She especially enjoyed going out for lunch. Her radiant smile and good nature will be missed by many.
She is survived by her son, Ronald Palmer and his wife, Betty, of South Plymouth; seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Mildred was predeceased by a son, Gary Palmer and two brothers, Robert and Donald Natoli.
Funeral and committal services for Mildred will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11 at the Wilson Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mildred may bmade to Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Old Vestal Road, Vestal, NY 13850.
