Kenneth Fowlston Sr.


SHERBURNE – Kenneth F. Fowlston Sr, 76, of Sherburne, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010 at the Chenango Memorial Hospital Residential Healthcare Facility, Norwich.
He was born July 21, 1934 in Pittsfield, a son of Homer and Alice Thompson Fowlston and received his education in New Berlin and Norwich schools. Following graduation he joined the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean Conflict from 1953-55. On February 19, 1977, Kenneth married Peggy Joan Vanderwarker in Plymouth. Ken was employed at T.A.C.O. in Sherburne until his retirement. He was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed WWE wrestling, football, baseball and NASCAR.
Surviving his wife, Peggy; his children, Jason and Marjorie Fowlston of Norwich; Kenneth, Jr. and Elissa Fowlston of Sherburne; Gina Merritt of Norwich and Linda Bates of Texas; step-children, Debra and Jack Harrington of Sherburne; James Gager of Long Island; grandchildren, Alexis, Staci, Todd, Jerry, Cody and Carl; step-grandchildren, Caleb, Derrik and Tomas; sisters and brother-in-law, Bessie Combs of Greene; Marjorie Murphy, Wanda and Harold “Jiggs” Hill, all of Norwich; sister-in-law, Eva Fowlston of Norwich; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Homer, William, Harold and Norman Fowlston.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, followed by burial with military honors in the Sherburne Quarter Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
