OXFORD – Dorothy J. Winterhalter, 93, of Oxford, passed away at Gilmour Health Care Facility on Nov. 28, 2010.
She was born on March 10, 1917 in Buffalo, NY a daughter of the late Julius and Anna (Meyer) Layer. She was married to Alfred J. Winterhalter on March 26, 1940, who passed away on June 13, 2003.
She is survived by her daughters, Ellen M. Reuter of Oxford, Susan L. Lee of Succasunna, N.J., and Margaret A. Giacomine of Montville, N.J.; her grandchildren, David J. Reuter, Jr. and wife Teresa of Coventryville, Kristin M. Reuter of Sidney, Keri A. Lee of Las Vegas, Nev., Kendra J. Myers and husband Kevin of St. Paul, Minn., Peter A. Giacomine and Michael A. Giacomine both of Montville, N.J.; her great grandchildren, Justin Arnold, Jacob Arnold, and Amelia Reuter of Coventryville, and Martin Worley-Myers of St. Paul, Minn. Her son, David R. Winterhalter in 1987, predeceased her.
She was a graduate of Bennett High School, Class of 1935 and Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1937. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, having worked with the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at Sacred Heart Church, Sidney. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich, NY 13815.
