Mildred Manwarren


SHERBURNE – Mildred Frances “Mike” Manwarren, 91, of Sherburne, passed away early Monday morning, Nov. 22, 2010, at her home.
The daughter of George and Myra Sisson Brazee, Mildred was born on Aug. 11,1919, in Norwich. Also in Norwich, on March 1, 1937, she married Kenneth Ward Manwarren, with whom she would share almost 61 years of marriage. Mildred was a family-oriented lady, softspoken unless you got her dander up, always well dressed, and camera ready at family celebrations. She was the true matriarch of her family, the glue that held it together. Mildred also loved her pets and enjoyed working in her garden.
Mildred is survived by her children and their spouses: Lucille Lyon of Earlville, Fanny and Owen Ellsworth of Brookfield, Rose Manwarren of Sherburne, Faye and Kevin Pierce of Beaver Meadow, David and MaryLou Manwarren of Morrisville, Lewis and Barbara Manwarren of Lockport, Ivon “Joe” and Elaine Manwarren of Plymouth, and Kenneth Dee Manwarren of Charlotte, N.C. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren; Mildred’s daughter-in-law Mildred “Mick” Manwarren of Smyrna; her sisters, Doris Monroe of Norwich and Wanda Gregory of New Berlin; her brother, Richard Brazee and wife Lorraine of Sherburne; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Melvin “Doc” and Dorothy Manwarren of Oxford, Fred and Bertha Blackman of East Pharsalia, June Manwarren of Florida, and Kathy Manwarren of Norwich. Mildred is survived by her best friend, Zella Campbell of Smyrna, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth, on Feb. 18, 1998; by her son, Elmer Manwarren in 1997; her son-in-law, Arthur Lyon in 2010; and her sisters and brother: Grace Knapp, Daisy Monroe, Margaret Manwarren, Ora Manwarren, and Ralph Brazee.
Funeral services for Mildred will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. Pastor Ted Lawrence of the West Smyrna Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Valley View Cemetery of South Otselic. Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral home on Friday from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m.
