Lorene Emmick


OXFORD – Lorene S. Emmick, 91, of Oxford passed away very peacefully with her family at her side on Nov. 17, 2010 at the NYS Veterans’ Home, Oxford.
She was born on Dec. 23, 1918 in Roscoe, a daughter of the late John and Anita (Dicks) Sipple. On Sept. 14, 1940 she married Chester G. Emmick, who passed away in 1985.
She is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Linda Orman of Columbia, MO, Carol and Jay Dutton of Nichols, and Sherry and Steve Behe of Oxford; her grandchildren, Lori Orman, Jennifer Orman, Tracy Petree, Barry Dutton, Kelly Edsell, Alan Dutton, Scott Behe and Stefanie Shomper; 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; and her sister, Harriet Bouck of Harpursville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Lorene graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1936. She was a long time member and part time organist at the Oxford United Methodist Church. She was a member and former chaplain of Lafayette Chapter #340, Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Travelers Book Club, the Oxford Ladies Birthday Club and the Mr. Chubb’s Coffee Group. She was a secretary for Ford Homes in McDonough for many years. She enjoyed playing the piano and watching Lawrence Welk on television. A very devoted mother and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24 at the Oxford United Methodist Church with the Rev, John Martin, pastor, and Rev. Allen Lang, officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Members of Lafayette Chapter, OES will conduct a memorial service at 6 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the NYS Veterans’ Home, 4207 St. Hwy 220, Oxford, NY 13830 or the Oxford United Methodist Church, S. Washington Ave., Oxford, NY 13830.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at the NYS Veterans’ Home for their compassionate care for Lorene while she was a resident.
