Claire Henninge


SMITHVILLE FLATS – Claire N. Henninge, 91, of Smithville Flats, passed away at the home of her daughter, Barbara Coleman on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010 surrounded by her loving family.
She is survived by her loving children, Fred and Donna Henninge of Colorado Springs, Colo., Garrie and Karen Henninge of Kokomo, Ind., Joe and Jackie Henninge of Greene, Barbara and David Coleman of Smithville Flats, Peg Stanton of Binghamton, and Marie Henninge of Greene; her brothers, Donald Doxie of Peoria, Ariz., and Lance and Joyce Doxie of Conklin; and her sister, Winnie Rybczynski of Bainbridge. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and several great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Garrie and Cora Doxie, her stepfather, William Loomis, her husband Fred Henninge, her daughter, Nancy Warnock, her sister, Shirley Golden, her brother Charles Doxie and her sister in law, Helga Doxie. She is also survived by her special friend, Blanche Greene and her “adopted grandson” Shawn Scoville of the Cincinnatus Fire Department Bingo Crew.
Claire enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends. She also loved watching the birds take a bath and made certain they always had food. The Coventry milk truck drivers provided her with many honks and waves. Claire was honored as the Grand Marshal of the Greene Labor Day Parade in 2009, where she attended the 1st Labor Day Parade in 1919. She was recognized as one of the oldest residents of Smithville at Smithville Days. She was a long time member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Greene.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, Greene at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Thomas I. Ward as celebrant. Burial will be in Sylvan Lawn Cemetery, Greene.
Friends may call at the Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., 21 N. Chenango St., Greene on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich, NY 13815.
The family would like to thank Dr. Masarech, the Hospice Staff, Greene EMS, and Smithville First Responders for all their support and care.
