Lydia Arias

BAINBRIDGE – Lydia J. Arias, 72, of Bainbridge, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010 at her home.
Born in McDonough in April of 1938, Lydia was the daughter of Clarence and Nellie (Watts) King. She spent her early years in McDonough and the surrounding area and eventually moved to Sidney. Lydia has made her home in Bainbridge for the past 20 plus years. She had formerly worked for the Norwich Shoe Co. and was employed by Amphenol Products in Sidney as a machinist for 20 years from which she retired.
Lydia was very family oriented and lived her life using common sense, independence and her creative and inventive mind. A wonderful lady, she would never say no to anyone. She loved nature and enjoyed the wildlife around her country home. Over the years Lydia became known as a wonderful cake decorator and also enjoyed being ‘the chef’ and arranging family cookouts.
Lydia was very proud of the fact that she was a descendant of Frederick Remmington and was also a lover of Native American. She was a Democratic Election Inspector for Chenango County and was a very active member of the Higher Ground Church in Afton.
On April 4, 1986 she married Jose Arias, who survives. Besides her husband Jose of Bainbridge, Lydia is survived by her son and his wife Calvin and Stacey Camp of Mt. Upton; her step-children Joseph (Ellen) Arias of Warwick, Rhode Island, Robert Arias of Plattekill, Miriam (Joseph) Albent of Oceanside and Sarah Arias of Elmont; her sister Theabelle Miller of North Carolina; and her brothers Clarence (Dutch) King of Smyrna, Eugene King of Norwich, Patrick King of Sherburne and Laverne King also of Sherburne. Many step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by her sisters Vivian Howe and Clara Clink.
At Lydia’s request services and interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are with the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
