Frank Benedicto Jr.


NORWICH – Frank J. Benedicto Jr., 80, of Griffin Street, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006 at the New York State Veterans’ Home in Oxford.
Frank was born in Goshen, on Oct. 30, 1926. He was the son of Frank J. and Isabelle (Turi) Benedicto. Frank received his schooling in Middletown and was a twenty-year veteran of the United States Navy having served from 1943 until his discharge in 1963 as Commissary First Class. Following his service, Frank joined the workforce at Victory Markets as a meat cutter until his retirement in 1988.
Frank was a member of the Church of the Holy Apostle St. Bartholomew, the VFW and the Fleet Reserve.
On July 14, 1951, in Norwich, Frank married Josephine B. (Ocello) Benedicto. Josephine died on Feb. 4, 2001. Frank is survived by a daughter, Frances Reitano and her husband, John, of Cohoes, and a son, Michael Benedicto, of Oxford; five grandchildren, Kate and Justin Reitano and Gregory, Lauren and Abigail Benedicto; two great grandchildren, Addie and Christopher; two sisters, Margaret Gobeo and Rose Brundage and her husband, Richard, all of Middletown. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by a brother, Victor Benedetto and a sister, Jean Benedetto.
Funeral services for Frank will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at the Church of the Holy Apostle St. Bartholomew. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wilson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the NYS Veterans’ Home, East River Road, Oxford, NY 13830.
