Ellen Miller


GUILFORD – Ellen C. Miller, 89, of Fairport, and formerly of Guilford, passed away Oct. 23, 2010, at Park Ridge Living Center, in Greece, NY. She was the wife of Milton C. Miller, who passed away in 1977.
She was born on October 15, 1921, in Summit, N.J., the daughter of Leslie and Frances Carpenter. She was a graduate of Hood College and was self-employed for most of her career as a commercial artist. In retirement she worked as a volunteer at the Pittsford Library.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Robert and Susan Hogeman of Greece, and David and Patricia Hogeman of Dover, Pa., a step-daughter-in-law, Donna Miller of Frederick, Md. and a step-daughter and her husband, Francis and Dr. Walter Herbert of Hanover, N.H. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Helen Carpenter and a nephew and his wife, Edward and Arleen Carpenter. In addition to her husband, she was pre-deceased by her step-son, Alan Miller and her brother, Edward Carpenter.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at two different times and locations. The first will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Farrell-Ryan Funeral Home, 777 Long Pond Road, Rochester, NY 14612. The second will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2 at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main Street, Oxford, followed by burial Wednesday, Nov. 3 at the Riverview Cemetery in Oxford.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pittsford Library, 24 State Street, Pittsford, NY 14534-2028, or the ALS division of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
