Edward Ulfik, Jr.


OXFORD – Edward J. Ulfik, Jr.65 of Oxford, NY passed away September 15, 2010 at M. I. Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, NY. He was born on November 29, 1944 in Baltimore, MD son of Edward J. Ulfik, Sr. and Dorothy Dahl Ulfik. On September 5, 1971 in Franklin, VT he married Catherine Hughes.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine of Oxford; his children, Edward J. Ulfik, III and his wife, Sarah of Oxford, and Elizabeth Ulfik and fiancé Christopher Swift of Norwich; his brother in law and sisters in law, Lois Barry of Locust Valley, NY, Chris and Allison Hughes of West Hempstead, NY; his best friends wife, Carol Richard of Franklin, VT; his cousins, David Ulfik of Oxford, GA, Peter Ulfik of Redhook, NY, and Jeanne Burke of Massapequa, NY. He is also survived by his loving dogs, Coco and Ava. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Barry; brother in law, Richard Hughes and his best friend, Don Richard.
Ed graduated from SUNY Farmingdale and Hofstra University, where he was a member of Pershing’s Rifles Military Fraternity. He also attended C.W. Post University. He was the Park Manager at Bowman Lake State Park for 15 years before becoming the Park Manager at Chenango Valley State Park for 6 years prior to becoming disabled by an accident. He was a great father and loved his family as well as keeping his home open to all. He especially loved the family cottage in Franklin, VT. He enjoyed woodworking and making toys. He like to spend time with his friends at the Clachen Coffee House in Oxford.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford with Rev. Jay Zaremba, pastor of Central Baptist Church, Greene, NY officiating.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, Oxford on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the Oxford Fire Department, PO Box 570, Oxford, NY 13830 or the Franklin Fire Department, PO Box 172, Franklin, VT 05457.
