Lois P. Jones

Lois P. Jones, 85, of Morris, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the New York State Veteran’s Home in Oxford. Born in March of 1941, in Teaneck, N.J., Lois was the daughter of the late Frederick Wagner and Gladys (Vernooy) Rowe.
Lois will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family, as well as her many years of volunteer work within the Morris Community, including with the EMS squad, the Auxiliary and the Morris Alumni Association.
Lois’s favorite tool was a simple pen. An avid letter writer, she poured her heart into hand-written correspondence, filling mailboxes with words of comfort, celebration and love. She believed that a handwritten note had the power to turn any ordinary day into a bright one. She always had a quick smile and a willingness to help others. She was truly a friend to all.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 66 years, Robert Jones, as well as a brother, Dennis Rowe, and a sister, Amy Gage.
She is survived by her three daughters, Julie Lawton, Joyce (Michael) Chase and Jennifer Jones; her grandchildren: Heather Lawton, Hilary (Danny) Causey, Justin (Megan) Chase and Andrew (Elise Bolton) Chase; and her great-grandchildren: Hailey Smith, Eli Crane, Hudson Thompson, Averi Thompson, Renly Chase and Jackson Chase.
She is also survived by her sisters, Martha Benjamin, Helen Hoag, Sophie (Ed Hooke) Liberatore; a brother, Fred Wagner; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 6th, 2026, at 2 p.m. at the Johnston & Stanimer Funeral Home in Morris with Lay-Minister Penny Harrington, officiating. Per Lois’s wishes, her family will bury her privately at Hillington Cemetery in Morris, N.Y.
