Marshall Conor Sepello
Marshall Conor Sepello, passed away at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital, Syracuse, on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the age of 12. He was born in Boston, MA on January 9, 2014, the beloved son of Michael and Rebecca (Sanner) Sepello. Marshall’s home was in Sherburne and he attended Sherburne-Earlville Central School as he was able.
Marshall was a force brimming with contagious light, strength, kindness, creativity, humor and love. He inspired everyone he met through his life’s journey. Deeply intelligent, wise beyond his years, brimming with imagination, and technologically talented, Marshall applied his gifts in many ways.
He had a remarkable passion for film, music, digital media, animation, programming and video game creation.
More than his talents, Marshall will be remembered for his resilience, impeccable character, and loving spirit. His smile, humor, intelligence and Marshallness left a lasting impression on family, friends, caregivers and all who shared in his journey.
Known online through his creative work as “Marshall Man,” and “Casino Cat,” Marshall proudly shared his works as an artist, director, writer and star. His creativity and originality were evident in everything he did.
Through Make-A-Wish Central New York, Marshall fulfilled one of his greatest dreams by turning his original comic book character into a real superhero movie. Marshall personally wrote, directed, produced and starred in the film “Marshall Man,” a short movie about an orange-caped superhero inspired by his own imagination and courage. The film premiered during a special “orange carpet” event at Syracuse’s Landmark Theatre, where Marshall was celebrated by family, friends, first responders, filmmakers, musicians, community members and supporters from throughout Central New York. The premiere featured live music, guest speakers and a question and answer segment event honoring Marshall and the incredible accomplishment of bringing his vision to life. The project, produced alongside American High and Make-A-Wish, became a powerful reflection of Marshall’s creativity, determination and joyful spirit, inspiring everyone who witnessed it.
Marshall was also proud to be an honorary member of the Sherburne Fire Department, where he was welcomed with friendship, kindness and support by its members.
Marshall is survived by his mother, Rebecca Sepello, and her fiancé, Daniel J. Welc, of Sherburne; his father, Michael Sepello, of Norwich; his grandmother, Penny Shattuck, of Norwich; his brothers, Tristen, Seth and Isaac Thompson; his aunts, Kelly Shattuck, of the greater Syracuse area, and Erin (Tom) Lacey, of Greene; his uncles, James (Donna) Sepello, of Chadwicks, Daniel (Sara) Sepello, of Oxford and Robert (Casey) Sepello of Loveland, OH; as well as many cousins, special friends, providers and caregivers who brightened his life in countless ways.
He was predeceased by his grandfather, Richard Sepello; grandmother, Martha McCall; and his great-grandmother, Roberta Ellis.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, NY 13460.
A reception in Marshall’s honor will follow at the Sherburne Fire Department, 15 W. State St., Sherburne, NY 13460.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Marshall’s creativity and joyful spirit will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him. Though his time here was far too short, the impact he made on the lives around him will never be forgotten.
