Brenda Weidman passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 2, 2026. She was born on April 20, 1940, in Lebanon, New York. Brenda and her husband, James “Jim” Weidman, married in 1957 and shared 43 years of marriage until Jim’s passing in 2000. Above all else, Brenda was proud of her family—raising four children and being blessed with nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Over the years, Brenda’s life was marked by hard work and determination. She spent many years at Norwich Pharmaceuticals before working side-by-side with Jim on their dairy farm. Never one to stop learning, Brenda later returned to school and earned her associate degree at Delhi to become a veterinary technician. After selling the farm, Brenda and Jim poured their energy into raising and training trotter racehorses. Brenda also served her community as the Columbus Town Clerk for many years, a role that fit her perfectly—she was known for her incredible organization, sharp mind, and knack for numbers. She retired at 81.
Brenda will be remembered for her intelligence, her fiery spirit, and her love of country music.
She is survived by her children: Jim Weidman of New Berlin, NY; Sheri Pasternak of New Berlin, NY; Jody Weidman (Spring) of New Berlin, NY; and Wendy Rifanburg (Jim) of New Berlin, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kody Weidman of New Berlin, NY; Morgan (Jake) Kelly of Charlotte, NC; J Weidman of New Berlin, NY; Brock Weidman of Charlotte, NC; Lauren Pasternak (Mike Martz) of Poughkeepsie, NY; Caitlyn (Jonny) Henbest of Springfield, MO; Jake Rodell of Poughkeepsie, NY; Jamie (Tom) Murling of New Berlin, Calvin (Amanda) Rifanburg of New Berlin, NY. Her great-grandchildren are Lucas, Cameron, and Caleb Martz; Maria and Michael Murling; Owen, Brooks, and Chloe Rifanburg; Riley and Reid Kelly; Lennon Weidman. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and by her siblings Betty MaGee, Patty Llewelyn, Pam Weidman, Ben Izard, and Wanda Izard.
Brenda was predeceased by her husband, James “Jim” Weidman; her parents, Richard and Mildren Izard; her brothers, Bill Izard and Larry Izard; her sisters, Sandy Burke and Debbie Reese.
