Thomas M. Thorp, loving husband and father, passed away on March 19, 2026 at the age of 64. He will be remembered as a hardworking man who took good care of his family, neighbors and community. He was a school bus driver for the Otselic Valley Central School District and he made a lasting impression on all of the students that rode with him. His creativity is evident in the cars that he detailed, the custom wood and stonework in his home and the ways he could find a random item on the roadside or trash heap and transform it into something useful and beautiful. His kindness and thoughtfulness will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Thomas leaves behind his wife of 26 years, Tina; his daughter, Kayla and Joshua Sullivan; his step-daughters, Jennifer and Tahir Haqq, and Katie and Jason Phillips; three grandchildren; his father, Richard Thorp; his twin brother, Mark and Linda Thorp, his brothers, Jim and Tracy Thorp, and Ken and Nancy Thorp; his sister, Lori and Tim Manwarren; his next door neighbors, Hunter, Gavin, and Dakota who were close to him as if they were his own sons; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral service for Thomas will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 30, at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St. Norwich with Pastor Peggi Eller officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, March 29, from 1:00-5:00 p.m.
