Harold C. Lorimer, Jr.


Harold C. Lorimer, Jr., 66, of Norwich, died on Tuesday, March, 24, 2026 at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born on February 24, 1960, in Norwich, Harold was a son of the late Harold, Sr. and Shirley (Simpson) Lorimer. He grew up in North Norwich and attended Sherburne-Earlville schools. He served in the United States Navy before returning to Chenango County. Harold worked for Baillie Lumber and at McCredy Motors in Sherburne as a car mechanic for sixteen years. He was a volunteer for both the Sherburne and North Norwich Fire Departments. For a short while, Harold lived in Texas before once again returning to Sherburne. During the holiday season, Harold often played Santa for many events. He also owned a “Lorimer’s Small Engine Repair” in North Norwich.
Harold greatly enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle and was proud to have participated in many “Bikers for Babies” fundraiser events. He also volunteered for many BBQ events for both the Sherburne Pageant of the Bands and the Sherburne Fire Department. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, driving his skid steer, building, boating and loved Christmas all year long. Harold took pride in his various properties and was proud to be an excellent landlord. In his spare time, he could be found at Crandall’s Auto Sales in Sherburne solving all the world’s problems.
Most recently, Harold cared for those going through dialysis in Norwich. He always put others before himself and cared for those around him deeply.
Harold is survived by his children, Harold C. Lorimer, III, Misty Lorimer, Troy Lorimer, Jason Smith, Kelly Lorimer, Dani Collins, Levi Lorimer (Nidia); many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; sister, Susan Schlicht (Peter); nephews, Raub Smith, Jr. (Terri) and Joseph Smith (Eugenia); girlfriend, Bobbi Constable; former brother-in-law, Raub Smith, Sr.; and close friend, Paula Foulds.
Harold’s family wishes to extend gratitude to both the Chenango Dialysis Center and to MLT Transportation for all the care they provided.
Harold will be buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery in the spring of 2026.
