Dorothy Clark


NEW BERLIN – Dorothy Maude Clark, 89 years old, of New Berlin, passed away Saturyday, June 26, 2010 in Cooperstown.
She was born June 20, 1921 in Sherburne, the daughter of Alex and Maude (Cutler) Harrington.
Dorothy married Joseph Walkden on June 2, 1944. They had two children, Johanna and Diana. Joseph died July 11, 1959. She later married Nathan H. Clark on April 21, 1961. He predeceased her on March 28, 1997.
Dorothy grew up in Sherburne where she was a graduate of Sherburne Central School.
She was employed by the Sherburne A&P and later relocated to New Berlin, where she was also employed by the A&P. She also worked as a clerk in the New Berlin Clothes Shop and the P&T variety store. She served as Town Clerk in New Berlin for 30 years, retiring in 1996.
She was an active member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church of New Berlin.
Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Johanna Schuchert and Diana Estes; four grandchildren, Jennifer Murdock, Stephanie Schuchert, Ivy Estes and Adam Estes and two Great Grandchildren, Michael and Brooke Murdock. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister Helen Ryan, and two brothers, Hubert and Howard Harrington.
Funeral services for Dorothy will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, New Berlin, with The Very Reverend Charles Taylor officiating. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dakin Funeral Home, LP of New Berlin.
Interment will be in the Columbus Corners Cemetery, Town of Columbus.
Memorial donations may be made to Chase Memorial Nursing Home, New Berlin or St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, New Berlin.
Arrangements are by the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin.
