GUILFORD – Katherine B. (Kate) Lewis, 84, of Guilford, passed away on June 22, 2010 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich.
She was born on Jan. 24, 1926 in Johnson City a daughter of the late Frank and Hilda (Stark) Brigham. On Jan. 3, 1948, she married Robert I. Lewis, who survives.
Besides her husband, Buss, of Guilford, she is survived by her children, Lawrence and Dianne Lewis of Oxford, Colleen and Ken Fagnani of Oxford, Chris and Eileen Lewis of Oxford, and Terri and Jim McCue of Oneonta; her sister, Frances Mohr of Smithville Flats. Several grandchildren also survive.
Kate was a graduate of Afton Central School, Class of 1944. She formerly enjoyed riding horses. She was a good mother and grandmother. She enjoyed quilting, ceramics, gardening, and a good party. She had worked at the Oxford telephone office, GLA and retired from the NYS Veterans’ Home after 22 years of service. She was a championship bowler.
Graveside services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, June 25 at Riverview Cemetery, Oxford with the Rev. Allen C. Lang, pastor of the United Church of Oxford officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Guilford Emergency Squad or Chenango County SPCA.
