Dara Dawn Gibbon, 51, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Albany Medical Center after an extended illness.
She was born to the late Darrell D. Lawson and Linda Fay Bailey Lawson on June 16, 1974, in Norwich, NY. In addition to her parents, she was welcomed into heaven by her infant sister, Darlene, and many other cherished family members who went before her.
Dara attended Norwich High School graduating in 1992, becoming an LPN in 2011 and found deep fulfillment in her work as a nurse, caring for others with compassion and dedication. She lived in the Norwich area for most of her life, only leaving for a short while to be with her mom in Durham, NC and Kansas with Steve while he was in the military, returning to the Norwich area until her passing.
Dara loved spending time with her family, close friends, her dogs and many “farm” animals. She enjoyed cooking, hosting special occasions and parties as well as reading, knitting, traveling, and supporting her community.
Dara is survived by her husband, Steve Gibbon, and her son, Thomas Gibbon - her sun, moon & stars; her everything. She also leaves behind her sisters; Debbie Lawson, Christine Hughes (Acie), and Connie Thornton (Brad); nieces and nephews, Jason, Ashley, Erin, Bailey, Troy, Zachary, Caitlyn; and her great nephews Myles, Alexander, and Brennen. She will also be dearly missed by her beloved dog, Boris, her constant companion and source of comfort. She leaves behind extended family including in-laws, stepfamily, aunts and a host of cousins.
Though she may no longer walk beside them, her love will forever surround her family and friends - felt in every memory, every smile, and every moment shared in her spirit.
In accordance with Dara’s wishes, no services will be held at this time.
