Lois J. Anthony Meade of Norwich, died peacefully at her home on October 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Lois was born on May 31, 1938 to Gladys and Fritz Anthony Jr. in Bayard, West Virginia. After graduating high school, she went on to join the United States Air Force, where she met the love of her life (Bob), Robert Meade. They soon married and settled in Norwich, New York.
Lois worked at Proctor and Gamble for 30+ years and upon her retirement, she and Bob enjoyed 26 years snow birding at Orchard Lake RV Resort in New Port Richey, Florida. She attended Holmesville Baptist Church in Holmesville, New York for many years. Lois, (Toni as she was known to many) loved people and there was not anyone that she met that did not love her. She enjoyed getting together with friends to play cards, a competitive game of marbles, crafting, bingo, and dancing. But most of all she loved her home and spending time with her family. She was a true Southern belle, always showing her generosity and hospitality.
Lois is survived by her husband Robert L. Meade of 67 years, four daughters Kimberly Meade, Mary Anne McCredy (Spencer), Debra Hewling (Fredrick), and Janice Sohne (Robert), her two step-children, Linda O’Brien (Timothy), and Robert Meade (Louise), her sister Carol Adams, along with 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and four of her sisters.
Calling hours will be held at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Saturday, October 18th, from 1:00-2:00pm with a memorial service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Chenango County.
