Cora Evelyn Swartout


August 18th,1933- September 26th,2025
Cora Evelyn Swartout died peacefully in the early morning hours of September 26th, with her family at her side. She was residing at the NYS Veterans Home in Oxford.
Cora was fourth in line in the Pinney clan. She is predeceased by both parents Walter Pinney Sr. and Vinnie (Bosket) Pinney, her brothers Walter, Fred, and Richard and her sisters Beatrice and Marian (Friar). Her brother Kenneth survives.
Cora was a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. She is survived by her children: Clifford (Joe) Burdick, Linda (Albert) Denz, James (Wendy) Burdick, Reg (Maureen) Savory, and Corinna (Dan) Oliver. She is also survived by two step-daughters, Jeannie (Ed) Tighe, and Janice. She has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as her special nieces: Barb Pinney, Linda Weckworth, Pam Mastro, Victoria Gregory, and her many nephews.
Special thanks to Daphne (Burdick) who helped Cora so she could live independently as long as possible.
Cora was a Veteran, joining the Air Force after high school. She was proud to have served her country. She spent many years working at the American Legion in Oxford. She took great pride in her work and was known for her organizational skills and dedication to her work, very rarely missing a day. Cora loved family gatherings whether birthday parties or family reunions. She enjoyed documenting her life, her travels with her husband Ken Swartout, and her family history.
She loved bird watching, scrabble, cards, and just visiting with family or friends. She will be greatly missed!
Funeral enragements have been entrusted to Behe Funeral Home Inc., Oxford, NY. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM. Funeral services officiated by Pastor Richard Howard will follow at 1:00 PM. A graveside service and military honors will follow immediately after in the Riverview Cemetery, Oxford, NY.
