James P. Chamberlain, ESQ


James P. Chamberlain, ESQ, 65, of Norwich, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at his home. He was born on March 17, 1960, in Hamilton, a son of the late Robert Frederic and Nancy Jane (Hackett) Chamberlain and graduated from Sherburne-Earlville High School, Mary Washington University, Fredericksburg, VA, and George Mason University School of Law, JD., Fairfax, VA, graduating in 1997.
James owned the Chamberlain Law Office, LLC., in Norwich. He was an accomplished musician and could play many instruments and was in several bands throughout the years. James was an automobile enthusiast who liked working on cars. He enjoyed golfing, skiing and a good conversation. He was an ordained minister at one point, and had a burning and unwavering love for the Lord. He felt praising the Lord was his “purpose”.
Surviving are his children: Joel B. Chamberlain and fiancé Anna of Ruther Glen, VA, Jacob B. and Kayla Chamberlain of Suffolk, VA, Jared B. and Nicole Chamberlain of Norfolk, VA, Jeanine K. Chamberlain of Earlville; grandchildren: Joel, Jr., Ryder and Violet; his sisters Barbara Jean Skinner of Annapolis, MD, Patricia Jane Culp of Sallsbury, MD; a brother, Fred Chamberlain of Vienna, VA, brother-in-law Eric Figg of Alexandria, VA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his sister Cathleen Marie Chamberlain.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at the First Baptist Church of Earlville, 9 West Main St., Earlville, NY 13332.
A Celebration of his Life will follow at the Earlville American Legion, 113 North Main St., Earlville, NY 13332.
Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, NY 13460.
