Dianne Lynn Dalrymple

Dianne Lynn Dalrymple, age 70, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 4, 2025.
Born on April 8, 1955, to Robert and Minnie (Jean) White (nee Waggoner), Dianne was a graduate of the Norwich City School District Class of 1973. She married Mark Dalrymple on August 30, 1986, and together they raised their family in Norwich, NY.
In her younger years, Dianne worked at Norwich-Eaton Pharmaceuticals before holding steady employment at several local businesses. She especially cherished jobs that allowed her to greet familiar faces and care for customers — most notably at Taylor’s Mini-Mart, where she worked until her retirement.
Dianne is survived by her husband of many years, Mark Dalrymple; sister Cindy A. Portelli; brother Leslie Palmer (Lois); and, her partner in life for the last 15 years, Blane Rothwell (and his parents, Edward and Fran Rothwell of Plymouth, NY); children, Meghann J. Dodge (Jake) of Oakland, California, and Logan M. Dalrymple of Norwich, NY; her grandchildren Amelia L. Dodge and Eleanor F. Dodge of Oakland, CA, and Clarah J. Beeching and Carter A. Beeching of North Pharsalia, NY; as well as extended family and dear friends.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, Robert and Minnie White; siblings David Palmer and Barbara Ryan (nee Palmer); brother-in-law Joseph L. Portelli; sister-in-law Christine Dalrymple; and in-laws, Clara and Frank Dalrymple.
Dianne loved her family and friends deeply, cherishing every moment spent together. She will be remembered for hosting summer festivals and camping trips, supporting the Blues Festival Association in it’s early years, tending to her gardens, and sharing her talents as a gifted cook, baker, and consummate fudge maker.
In retirement, she found joy in her backyard sanctuary, especially when joined by two of her grandchildren, Clarah and Carter, for barbecues, play, and visits with friends and family. Her yard was always a showcase of vibrant flowers and creative landscaping with nature close at hand – chipmunks, squirrels, rabbits, butterflies, and birds made it their home. She delighted in handfeeding “Peanut,” her favorite chipmunk. Her nurturing spirit and love of all living things earned her the nickname “Snow Whitey.”
There currently are no services or calling hours. A celebration of life is being planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers or cards, donations can be made to a charitable organization of your choice. Some to consider might be: The American Cancer Society, National Audubon Society, National Wildlife Federation, the SPCA, and/or the Humane Society.
Please consider sending cards of condolences and thoughts to her sister, Cindy, at Norwich Rehabilitation Center on Calvary Drive in Norwich by mail to: Norwich Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Room 3010, 88 Calvary Drive, Norwich, NY 13815.
Dianne’s family has entrusted her care to Edd Stanimer of the Johnston & Stanimer Funeral Home in Morris. To leave an online condolence to her family, visit www.JohnstonFh.com.
