Gertrude Titcomb


MARATHON – Gertrude A. Titcomb, 91, went to be with family and friends on June 16, 2010.
She was born on May 9, 1919, the daughter to the late Frances (Agnes) Neilan. She was predceased by her husband, Stanley T. Titcomb.
Gertrude was a member of the Catholic Community of St. Stephen/St. Patrick. During World War II she worked for the American Red Cross in the South Pacific where she met her husband of 56 years. She was a member of the Civil Air Patrol along with several of her children. She worked as a Psychologist at the Westchester County Department of Parks & Recreation and was a supporter of the Port Chester Band Parents.
Gertrude is survived by nine children: Thayer Miller and family of Marathon, Claire (John) Ders of South Otselic, Stephen Titcomb and family of Burlington, Vt., Jack Titcomb and family of Mahopac, Kenneth Titcomb of Akron, Ohio, David Titcomb and family of Tarrytown, Mary Titcomb Garry and family, Nancy Titcomb and family of Cazenovia, Lisa Bugaj and family of Hamburg; 19 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Nancy Neilan Spiecher, Summerset, Pa.; one brother, John Barry Neilan, Sunland, Calif. along with many nieces and nephews across the country.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
Arrangements are by A.C. Baker & Son Funeral Home, Marathon.
