David Lawson


SOUTH NEW BERLIN – David Camp Lawson, 71, of South New Berlin, passed away June 8, 2010 at home with his family and friends by his side.
He was born May 2, 1939 in New Berlin, the son of Arthur & Linetta (Camp) Lawson.
On Nov. 1, 1975, he married Carol Caprara, who survives. His father & mother-in-law were Bob & Annamae Handy.
David spent his childhood in the Gilbertsville and South New Berlin areas and was a 1958 graduate of Gilbertsville Central School. He was also a graduate of Syracuse Business School. He was employed as a Manager for Discount Tile and Carpet World of New York Mills.
David was Past President of the South New Berlin Fire Department, a member of the First Baptist Church of South New Berlin and a member of the Chenango County Fire Police Association. He was an avid hunter who loved camping and eating ice cream.
Besides his wife, Carol, David is survived by his children: Christopher Lawson of Cooperstown, Sue Lawson & Jim Johnson of Forestport, Jenalee Menard & Joe Vunk of Edmeston; grandchildren: Christopher, Douglas, Brooke, Cory, Natalye & Madalyn; three sisters: Cheryl Vimislicky, Elaine (George) Clum and Jane Lawson. And many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of South New Berlin with Reverend Barry Davis and Reverend Kurt Funke officiating.
Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery of South New Berlin.
Calling hours will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the Dakin Funeral Home LP New Berlin.
Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of South New Berlin’s sound system fund in memory of David Lawson.
Arrangements are by the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin.
