STANLEY DAVIS

Stanley Edwin Davis, of Otselic, NY, passed away January 27, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse. Born May 25, 1946, a son of Ronald E. and Edna (Staley) Davis, he lived his entire life on the family farm.  A life long dairy farmer, he loved the challenge of fixing anything. He built a “kiddie tractor and pulling sled” for his boys and for many years took it to local fairs and festivals for all children to “pedal, pedal, pull!”
He leaves behind his wife of 54+ years, Marjorie (Robinson) Davis; son Daniel (Rebecca) and son Michael (Becky). Also surviving are granddaughter Danica; grandson Jordan Baerga; granddaughters Katelyn Sharp with Callie, Emma and Bryson and Melissa Rule; a sister Joan (Bruce) Prindle and brother Glen (Kathy); also cousins, nieces nephews and many friends.
Stanley was a graduate of South Otselic Central School, class of 1965 and SUNY Morrisville, class of 1967. He was a member of the Otselic Valley Grange, county, state and national Granges and a director of the Chenango County Fair. He also served as a member of the Chenango County Farmland Protection Committee. He actively supported the Chenango County Dairy Promotion programs and worked on Dairy Day events since its beginning in 2001. Previously he was a town of Otselic Board member, member and officer of the Chenango County Holstein Club and a director on the New York State Beef Industry Council.
His extensive collection of milk bottles was a source of great pride and pleasure. He had a love of the old trains, especially of the O and W (Butter & Cheese Express) whose rails passed through his family farm.
Family will be present to receive family and friends at Smith Funeral Home, DeRuyter, NY, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 31 and on Saturday, February 1 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with funeral services immediately following. Burial will be private at a later date.
