Susan M. Symonds


Susan M. Symonds, 68, of Norwich, NY, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, surrounded by family. Born on October 2, 1956, in Bayshore, Susan was the daughter of the late Edgar O. Grover and Ann E. Gallagher. She graduated in 1975 from Worcester Central School and had a fulfilling career, retiring from Norwich City Schools after many years of dedicated service.
Susan was known for her kind and caring nature, always putting the needs of others before her own. She had a warm heart and a quick wit that made her a beloved friend and family member. She filled her life with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to her family.
She is survived by her two sons, John and wife Michelle McCoy of Delanson, and Eric McCoy and fiancé Emily Farkas of California; and her fiancé Jerry White of Norwich; her sister, Kathleen, and husband Michael Tiffany of Gilbertsville; her brother, Michael and wife Linda Grover of Watertown, sister Annmarie and husband Jeffrey Funk of Watertown, brother David and wife Melanie Grover of Pennsylvania, and brother Edward Grover of Norwich, and granddaughter Catherine McCoy of Yuma, AZ.
She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss her deeply.
Susan is predeceased by her step-father Guy (Ted) Post, mother Ann Post, her brother Thomas Grover, and nephews Steven Carpenter and Kristopher Funk.
Her life celebration will be on January 25, 2025, at 1200 at the First Presbyterian Church in Gilbertsville, NY. Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Susan, whose kindness, strength, and love will remain in our hearts forever.
In place of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society or the Foundation for Prader-Willi Research.
Susan’s legacy of love and devotion to her family and friends will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Arrangements have been entrusted to R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
