May 21, 1940 - September 7, 2024
Of Norwich and South New Berlin, New York; Sequim, Washington; and Columbus, Indiana – A beloved and admired fellow/gentleman/soul, Stephen Emery Lewis, died with family around him in Columbus, Indiana, on Saturday, September 7th, 2024, at the age of 84.
Steve was born in Cortland, New York to Dorothy Inez Valentine (Lewis) and Charles Edgar Lewis on May 21st, 1940. Steve was a husband to Mary Lewis for 62 years, a father, a Vice-President of a Norwich Aero Products, a mentor, a good example, a student of the world, a voracious reader, a good neighbor, an athlete and a sportsman, a helping hand, a college graduate, a hard worker, a trusted advisor, a respected employer, a provider, a thinker and a problem-solver, a comfort, good company, and a person of quiet strength and knowledge; to list just some of his traits.
While Steve was an avid and skilled fisherman, hunter and golfer, he is remembered by a great many people as an outstanding and award-winning bowler, who was the author of six or more perfect (300) games during his bowling career. He was a gifted and passionate student of the game and had a mastery of the variables that made for strikes; which was apparent to anyone who competed with him and watched him roll.
Steve is survived by his wife Mary Lewis and daughter Holly Lewis of Columbus, Indiana; his son Jeff Lewis of Olympia, Washington; and his big-sister, Jan Lewis, of Littleton, Colorado. Steve’s was indeed a life well-lived and he is greatly missed.
