NEW BERLIN – Herbert Foster, 78, of New Berlin, passed away Friday, June 4, 2010 at his home.
He was born Oct. 24, 1931 in Queens, the son of Robert & Elizabeth (Buss) Foster. He spent his childhood in Queens and Deer Park, Long Island.
On Aug. 18, 1958 in New Berlin, he married Margaret Perrigo Foster, who survives.
Herbert is also survived by his children: Dale & Margaret “Peggy” Law of Sherburne, James & Marcy Foster of Arlington, Va., Steven & Anita Foster of Powder Springs, Ga. and Joseph & Jennifer Foster of Cazenovia; six grandchildren: Nichole, Amanda, Chelsea, Kaitlin, Erin & Spencer; brothers and sisters: Betty Embro, Robert Foster, Donald Foster & Florence Miller; and by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Foster was a truck driver, part owner of Five Corners Body Shop and supervisor for At-A-Glance of Sidney. Herbert served in U.S. Army from 1952-1954.
He was a member and Past Master of Phoebus Lodge # 82 in New Berlin.
Herbert was a loving father, grandfather and husband who enjoyed bowling and was a fan of the Mets and Syracuse Orangeman Basketball.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 14 at 11 a.m. at the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin, with Reverend Allyson Ellis of the First United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment will be in the Columbus Corners Cemetery, Town of Columbus.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, June 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, June 14, 2010 from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the funeral service.
Memorial donations may be made to the Chenango County Hospice.
