George Cole, age 93, passed away January 5, 2024, in Escondido, Ca.
George lived a rich life marked by dedication to his family and community. Born and raised in Norwich, New York, he spent his entire career with Norwich Pharmacal. After retiring to Tempe, Arizona, George became a beloved school bus driver, cherished by the children he transported.
George was married twice, first to Catherine Meade, with whom he had eight children, and later to Beverly Gates, where he embraced her three daughters as his own. Beverly passed away 15 days after George’s death.
He is preceded in death by his brother and four grandchildren.
He is survived by his eight children, Sandra, K. Sue (Edward) Kobylack, Debra (Thomas) Rothwell, Bruce (Amy Tiffany) Cole, Linda (Richard) Kavey, Elizabeth (Robert) Shrader, Cynthia (William) Brown, Brian Cole and three stepchildren, Amy (Mark) Utter, Judy Smith and Bonnie (Brian) Parker. Also surviving are two nieces and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
George was a family man and enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting, and horse races.
Despite a long battle with cancer, George remained positive and cheerful, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
