Amy Jo (Wismer) Thompson


Amy Jo (Wismer) Thompson, 45 of Norwich, NY passed away suddenly and peacefully June 20, 2024.
Amy was born October 26, 1978, in Norwich, NY to Kenneth and Beverly (Ryan) Wismer. Amy was a graduate of Norwich High School. She loved to help and serve people. She spent most of her life working in the customer service field. You may remember her from the many years she spent as a manager at The Country Store in Norwich, or from her time at Chobani and most recently she loved making new friends at Bella’s Pizzeria.
Amy always had a contagious smile on her face that made everyone love her. She loved spending time and making memories with her friends and family. Her grandchildren were her world and she loved them unconditionally. A few of her favorite memories came from our family trips to Lake George and Tennessee.
Amy is survived by her mother Beverly (Ryan) Wismer, her sisters Brenda (Wismer) White (Chad) and Caroline (Wismer) Koerts (Perry), her children Makayla Thompson (Matt) and Christopher Thompson Jr (Corrine), her cousins that she considered sisters, Billie (Ryan) Strait (Grover), Heather (Ryan) Jackson (Andy), Sherry Hazard, Wendy (Hazard) Miller (Randy), Theresa Hazard, Lawrence Ryan Jr, her grandchildren Dallas and Blake Nelson, Oliver Thompson, Wyatt Dunham, Hayln Forkey and Zeke Thompson, her partner Norman (Bill) Wilbur, her uncles Lawrence Ryan (Karen) and Herb Ryan (Martha), many nieces and nephews including Marissa Ramey, Connor White, Emma Koerts, Michael, Kaitlin and Landon Albertina, Haley (Jackson) VanOven (Zach), Chandler, Annaleise and Dannica Jackson, Brandon, Thad and Mackenzie French.
Amy is predeceased by her father Kenneth Wismer, grandparents Eugene and Caroline Ryan, aunts, Barbara Ryan and Connie Hazard, uncles Eugene, John and Gary Ryan, cousins Amy Sue French, Jason Drake.
Amy will be remembered as a kind, compassionate and loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, cousin, aunt and friend. Amy was extremely loved and will be missed by many.
There will be a gathering to celebrate Amy on July 6, 2024 from 1pm-5pm at the Pharsalia Town Park located at 189 North Road, Pharsalia, NY 13801. Donations can be made to Aunt Mary’s House in Norwich NY, auntmaryshouse.net in Amy’s memory.
