William W. Crane, Jr., 72, of South New Berlin, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024 after a long illness. He was born on March 2, 1952 in Sussex, NJ, to the late William W. and Henrietta (Thornton) Crane. He married Melanie Gainfort, also of NJ, on February 8, 1975.
William retired from Reese-Marshall Oil Company after 37 years as a Service Technician. He was a volunteer fireman for Station 31 in South New Berlin. H e enjoyed hunting and fishing until his health deteriorated.
William is survived by his wife of 49 years, Melanie; his children, Erica (Joe) Crane, Cynthia (Corey) DuBois, and Matthew (Danielle) Crane; his grandchildren, Dylan, Mason, Brianne, Mackenzie, Baleigh, Emily, and Tyler; his great-grandchildren, Aurora, Soline, Oliver, Scarlett, and Colton; his special uncle and aunt, Terry and Arlene Thornton; his good friends, Tim and Lynn Macumber; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts. Along with his parents, William was predeceased by his two brothers, four sisters, eight aunts and two uncles.
Calling hours for William will take place from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10, at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St. Norwich.
