Beverly A. Dolly, 88 of Sherburne, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich.
She was born in Norwich on October 10, 1935, the daughter of the late Claude and Myra Carrie (Hills) Barr. Beverly graduated from Norwich High School in 1953. She was united in marriage to David A. Dolly on July 15, 1956. Dave predeceased her in 1996. Beverly was the personal secretary to Clarence F. Gaines for nearly 30 years until his passing. She was a member of the North Norwich United Methodist Church. She served on the board of the North Norwich Cemetery and the West Hill Cemetery in Sherburne where she was also treasurer for many years. She enjoyed reading, admiring birds and watching sports. In retirement, she travelled quite a bit visiting all 50 states. But most of all Beverly loved the time spent with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Susan Dolly Lathrop and her husband Richard Lathrop of Earlville, William Dolly and his wife Julie of Cazenovia; grandchildren, Jessica Lathrop of Bethlehem, PA, Kassandra and Daniel Strack of Rochester with great-granddaughter Livia; two other grandchildren, Jonathan and Alex Dolly of Cazenovia; a sister-in-law, Patricia Barr of Lancaster, PA and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends are invited to calling hours on Tuesday, February 6th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, NY 13460. A service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be held in the spring at West Hill Cemetery. Contributions in Beverly’s memory may be made to the Sherburne Public Library, West Hill Cemetery and the Sherburne Fire Dept.
