Kent S. Eggleston, 63, of Oriskany Falls, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at his home. He was born in Norwich on August 5, 1960, a son of Stephen and Sarah (Eggleston) Crawley, Sharpe, and was a 1978 graduate of Norwich High School. He served his country faithfully in the US Marine Corps as an aircraft power plant mechanic.
Kent last worked as a security officer at Masonic Homes, Utica, as a security guard where he had the opportunity to interact with many staff and patients. He was also an Oneida Nations Police dispatcher and an Onondaga County 911 operator.
Kent was an active member of the Oriskany Falls Fire Department and an EMT for the rescue squad. He served as trustee and a past president. In his quiet time, Kent loved fishing and the peacefulness that goes with it.
He is survived by his mother, Sarah Sharpe, of Norwich; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kim and Bill Gorham of Whitney Point, Karen and Rob Powers of Greenwich, RI.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kevin and Betsy Eggleston of Willow AK., Kendall Eggleston of Brewerton, Gary and Melissa Ashcraft, of Olympia, WA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Kent was predeceased by his father, Stephen Eggleston.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 3 p.m. from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton, NY 13346. Services will be livestreamed for those unable to attend.
Friends are invited and may call at the funeral home from 1-3 p.m. prior to the service. Following the service, the Oriskany Falls Fire Department will have a fire engine escort to the department firehouse where they will have an Honor Guard ceremony. All are invited to take part in the procession.
A private interment with military honors will be held in the springtime in Union Cemetery, McDonough with his family.
